Serengeti Great Migration Guide
Kiu Tanzania Safari Team · 10 September 2026

The migration is a continuous, circular movement driven by rain and grazing. Patterns are broadly predictable, but timing changes each year.
Typical pattern
- December–March: southern Serengeti and Ndutu, calving around February
- April–May: moving through the central and western Serengeti
- June–July: western corridor and Grumeti River
- July–October: northern Serengeti and Mara River
- November: moving south again
River crossings cannot be guaranteed and depend on the animals themselves.
